The measuring system LB440 is used for the contactless, continuous measurement of liquids and bulk materials in reactors, vessels and bunkers. The measurement is not affected by the chemical and physical properties of the product being measured. The level measurement is adapted to the specific geometry of the vessel.

The LB 470 DuoSeries level measurement system is the successor of the well known and successful LB 440. It is based on the proven 2-wire technology and is compatible to the LB 440 and the LB 44xx / 54xx detectors.

Advantages of the LB 470 level measurement system over the LB 440

  • The LB 470 provides an internal solution to compensate for gas influences, the Gas Properties Compensation.
  • The diagnostic functions of LB 470 were implemented in accordance with the Namur recommendation NE-107 and include event-descriptions and aid instructions in plain text.

Mould Level Gauge LB 452

The Berthold mold level gauge is designed for measuring the level of molten metal during the continuous casting of billets, blooms or stabs, primarily for the steel industry.

LB452 replaces the old detector LB352. LB452 is specially designed for mould level measurements. It can be used with the GAMMAcast series of radiometric detectors or the LB 452-EC ECcast in combination with the electromagnetic sensors LB 6780 Edge-Type Sensor and LB 6790 Suspended Sensor.

Technical features:

  • LB 452 can handle 4 independent level measurements in one control unit - both for radiometric and eddy current measurement methods.

  • Berthold uses LC filter for noise cancelling which is much faster then averaging filters used in the present. In reality this means a much faster response from the mold level system for a level change.
  • Berthold's detectors has less noise due to better matching between photomultiplier and scintillator.
  • Berthold can offer an immensely robust SiPM-based detector - LB6760.
  • Berthold can offer linear Co-60 rod sources, make system calibration quick and easy, but also the operation much safer while and over flow cannot evaporate the source.
  • Berthold measurement using a Co-60 source is also much less affected by mould powder in the mould while, Co-60 has a higher penetration than a Cs-137 source.

Gamma radiation is attenuated when passing through its area. This attenuation is measured by a very sensitive detector. If the type of radiation, and wall thickness are constant during radiation, radiation attenuation will be affected only by a change in the level.

In this way, the safe can be measured without contact - regardless of pressure, temperature, viscosity, color and chemical properties. Consequently, radiometric measurement devices demonstrate a high level of functioning, even without the revisions under difficult operating conditions.
